A former Kentucky State Police trooper indicted in connection with the alleged misappropriation of Trooper Island Camp funds has been served with that indictment and released on bond.
Jonathan Biven was served Tuesday by Clinton County Sheriff Ricky Marcum and was released after posting a $25,000 surety bond.
As WJRS NEWS previously reported, Biven was indicted by a Clinton County grand jury Thursday, August 6th, on a charge of Theft by Unlawful Taking of more than $10,000.
Biven formerly served as director of Trooper Island Camp.
Kentucky State Police says the investigation began after the agency discovered possible misappropriation of Trooper Island funds in September of 2024. Biven retired from KSP soon after the investigation began, effective September 30th, 2024.
The KSP Special Investigations Branch reviewed financial transaction records before presenting its findings to the Clinton County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
His arraignment is scheduled for September 10th in Clinton Circuit Court before Judge David L. Williams.
An indictment is an accusation of a crime and does not constitute a finding of guilt.
