The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after a 70-year-old woman was found dead inside a home in eastern Pulaski County.
Sheriff Bobby Jones says deputies were called to a residence on Lower Line Creek Road at about 12:10 Wednesday morning for a welfare check.
When deputies arrived, they found 70-year-old Sherri Mitko deceased inside the residence. A preliminary report indicates Mitko died from multiple gunshot wounds.
An autopsy was performed Wednesday morning in Frankfort.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division is leading the investigation, along with the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office.
Detectives say they are pursuing several leads and have identified persons of interest. No arrests have been announced.
