Russell County Search and Rescue called out to assist boaters late Thursday night

Russell County Search and Rescue was called out to assist two boaters on the Cumberland River Thursday night.

Crews were called out at around 10:30 Thursday night to assist Kentucky Fish & Wildlife about one mile downstream from Wolf Creek Dam.

Two individuals and their dog were reported stranded after running out of fuel on the river.
Responders had to deal with dense fog on the water, but were able to locate the boaters inside their vessel, banked along the river.
Rescue crews were able to get the boaters back to the ramp at around 1 a.m. Friday morning.
