The Russell County Community Blood Drive is today.
The blood drive takes place today from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the South Kentucky RECC Community Room.
The Kentucky Blood Center says donations tend to drop in the summer as people begin to travel, just as trauma cases start to climb.
The blood center also noted summer donations drop in part because high schools are out, so they cannot hold their usual student blood drives.
Appointments for the blood drive are preferred but walk-ins are welcome.
Donors will receive a free t-shirt and a voucher for a free pint of Blue Bell ice cream, while supplies last.
One lucky donor will also win a $100 gift card courtesy of McKinley & Associates Realty in Russell Springs.
