Casey County native Wethington announces he’s stepping down as LWU Women’s Basketball coach after 37 years

Casey County native John B. Wethington is stepping down from his position as head coach of the Lindsey Wilson University Women’s Basketball program.

Wethington has served as head coach of the Blue Raiders for 37 seasons, and is the longest-serving college basketball coach in the state of Kentucky and the winningest active NAIA Women’s Basketball coach.

Wethington wraps up his college coaching career with a record of 737 wins and 428 losses. In his career, he led the Blue Raiders to 20 appearances in the NAIA National Tournament along with three regular season conference championships. He has been named Mid-South Conference Coach of the Year four times, and was named Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Association Coach of the Year three times.

Wethington will step into a new role at Lindsey Wilson University as assistant to the president for athletics development.
