Over 90 percent of lodging booked locally as major fishing tournament nears

The 2026 High School Fishing World Finals and National Championship will be coming to Lake Cumberland in just a few weeks, which will bring thousands of visitors into Russell County.

Tourism Director Danielle Wilson said her office has spoke with lodging establishments across the county, and over 90 percent are already booked ahead of the tournament, which gets underway June 23.

This is the first time the event has been held in Kentucky. The event is expected to have a multi-million dollar impact in the area.
