Russell Springs man arrested in Glasgow after allegedly assaulting restaurant employees with a hammer

A Russell Springs man was arrested in Glasgow over the weekend after allegedly entering a Papa John’s restaurant and assaulting employees with a hammer.

Glasgow Police say 24-year-old Aaron Kelly was arrested Saturday night on charges including three counts of assault first degree, theft of contents from a vehicle, and public intoxication of a controlled substance.

Police say Kelly approached a woman sitting in a vehicle and asked multiple times if she had a gun. Kelly reportedly then looked around the woman’s vehicle and found a hammer, grabbed it and walked toward the restaurant.

Police say Kelly entered through the open back door of the restaurant while the employees were cleaning and began attempting to assault the employees inside.

The employees were eventually able to subdue Kelly long enough for law enforcement to arrive and take him into custody. Police say multiple employees suffered visible injuries from the attack.

Kelly was taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for treatment, and later lodged in the Barren County Detention Center. The investigation remains ongoing by Glasgow Police.
