The Jamestown City Council is set to potentially consider bringing back hazardous duty retirement for the city’s police officers.
The topic has been brought up in previous meetings, but Mayor Regena Hinton told the council at last night’s meeting it’s something the city needs to take a serious look at as a recruitment and retention tool for the police department.
Hinton told WJRS News the city is going to look at the city’s finances and determine what it would cost to implement hazardous duty retirement for the police department.
The city council is expected to be presented with more information at next month’s meeting.
