Russell Springs awards bid for major water project

The Russell Springs City Council voted to approve a bid for a major upcoming water project.

The council approved a bid from Cleary Construction out of Tompkinsville on the cast iron/asbestos/concrete water line project, which will replace some of the oldest water lines in the city.

Mayor Eddie Thomas said city residents should expect to see that project get underway in the coming months.

The cost of the project is expected to be covered by a grant for more than $2 million the city received.

City officials say the project will begin in the Old Columbia Road area of the city.
