Columbia man indicted on murder charge in shooting death of his son

A Columbia man was indicted on a murder charge in a case involving the shooting death of his son.

Phillip Bruce Hadley was indicted by an Adair County grand jury last week on a charge of murder in the death of his son, Jordan.

Kentucky State Police arrested Hadley on January 13. State Police say Hadley and his son were involved in a heated altercation at a family member’s home on South Highway 55 that afternoon.

State Police say during that altercation, Jordan allegedly shoved Hadley and as Jordan approached him a third time, Hadley pulled a .40 caliber handgun and shot him.

According to state police, Hadley reportedly told investigators that he believed Jordan was reaching for a handgun during the altercation. However, state police say they did not discover a handgun at the scene.

Jordan was transported from the scene to TJ Health Columbia, where he was pronounced deceased.

Hadley remains lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail.
