The Russell County Board of Education approved the creation of a local planning committee at its meeting Friday.
That committee will soon begin work on a significant task: constructing the school district’s facilities plan.
Superintendent Michael Ford said this committee, made up of 20 individuals including school personnel as well as parents and community leaders, will help map out future plans for the district.
The school district is required to approve and submit a district facilities plan to the state every four years.
