In response to cold temperatures coupled with the recent dry conditions, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is actively managing several lakes across the Cumberland River Basin over the next several days to meet increasing regional power demands.
The heavy hydropower generation will cause changes in water levels at Lake Cumberland and other lakes over the next week.
For Lake Cumberland, the change is less significant than some other lakes managed by the Corps. The Corps said water levels at Lake Cumberland are expected to drop about 1.5 feet below normal levels for this time of year.
The Corps of Engineers urges the public, especially marina operators and boat and dock owners, to be aware of the changing conditions and to take necessary precautions to protect their property.
