The Russell County High School Basketball teams had a successful weekend.
The Lakers and Lady Lakers picked up wins at Logan County in the first boy/girl doubleheader of the season Friday night.
The Lady Lakers won 59-36 over the Lady Cougars led by a 19-point performance by Natalie Bartrug.
Addy Abrell scored 14 points in the win, and Aniyah Coffey and McKenna Ccamaque each added 11.
The Lakers defeated the Cougars 69-59.
Dylan Stanelle led the Lakers with a team-high 21 points. Noah McMillin and Maddox Shearer each scored 10 points in the win.
The Lady Lakers were in action again on Saturday at home, taking on Butler County.
The Lady Lakers were led by the duo of Abrell and Coffey. Abrell scored 27 points and Coffey scored 25.
The Lakers and Lady Lakers will be back in action tomorrow for the first district doubleheader of the season at Cumberland County. Tip-off for the girls game is set for 6:00 with boys to follow.
