Russell Springs Council approves slight decrease to city tax rate

The Russell Springs City Council approved a decrease in the city’s tax rate at last night’s meeting.

Mayor Eddie Thomas said he was happy to see the city’s tax rate decrease and credited the work of city staff following the council’s vote.

The city’s tax rate on real property dropped from 14.7 cents per $100 of assessed value to 14.2 cents.

City taxpayers who pay their tax bill by the end of November will receive a two-percent discount. Tax payments are due by December 31.
