The Lady Laker Volleyball team swept Casey County on the road last night with varsity, JV and freshmen teams all picking up victories on the road.
The Lady Laker Varsity team defeated the Lady Rebels 2 sets to 1 to secure the victory.
The Lady Lakers return to action tonight for a district matchup on the road at Monroe County. Those games get underway at 5:30 this evening.
In other Lady Laker Volleyball news, senior Ella Pierce is receiving recognition after ranking in the top 10 statewide in digs. Pierce has 365 digs on the season, which ranks 4th in the state. Her average of 5.79 digs per game ranks 10th in the state.
Russell County, as a team, ranks 6th in the state in digs per game with 21.8.
In volleyball, a dig is specifically the act of successfully receiving an attacked ball that is hit by the opponent, as opposed to a regular pass or serve reception.
