With the recent release of the 2024 Crime in Kentucky report by Kentucky State Police, WJRS News is examining how arrest rates compare in Russell and surrounding counties.
To account for population differences among neighboring counties, WJRS News calculated the number of arrests per 1,000 residents in each county based on 2024 population estimates.
According to the data, Russell County was in the middle amongst neighboring counties at 101 arrests per 1,000 residents in 2024.
Cumberland County reported the highest arrest rate in the area at around 147 arrests per 1,000 residents. Clinton County was just behind at around 142 arrests per 1,000.
From there, Wayne County had the third-highest arrest rate at around 118 arrests per 1,000 residents.
Casey County came in just behind Russell County at 97 arrests per 1,000, and Pulaski County wasn’t far behind at around 92 arrests per 1,000.
Adair County had the lowest arrest rate by a substantial margin at around 70 arrests per 1,000 residents.
