Lakers defeat Monroe to claim 8th consecutive district championship

The Laker Baseball team claimed its 8th consecutive district championship last night with an 8-6 win over the host Monroe County Falcons last night.

Carter Stapp continued his recent success at the plate, finishing with a team-high 3 hits, including a two-run home run in the second inning.

Jack Shearer also added a pair of hits, and Ben Kemp and Walker Stephens each drove in a pair of runs for the Lakers.

Tanner Stringer picked up the win on the mound, pitching 4 innings, giving up 4 hits, 3 earned runs, and striking out 1 batter.

Mayes Gosser pitched the final two innings, earning the save while giving up just 1 hit and striking out 2.

The Lakers now await their draw for the upcoming 4th Region Tournament. The draw will take place this weekend.

The Lakers will open up region tournament play against one of three teams: Franklin-Simpson, South Warren, or Warren East, all of which finished as runner-up in their respective districts.

Also joining the region tournament field will be Logan County, Greenwood, and Barren County, champions of their respective districts.
