Russell County’s 2024 unemployment rate was the lowest in the Lake Cumberland area.
The Kentucky Center for Statistics reported a 2024 unemployment rate of 5 percent in Russell County.
Cumberland County was slightly higher at 5.1 percent, Adair and Casey counties each came in at 5.4 percent, Pulaski County at 5.6 percent, Clinton County at 5.8 percent, and Wayne County was tied for the highest in the area at 6.5 percent.
Russell County saw an overall increase in unemployment in 2024 compared to 2023. Russell County’s unemployment increased by half-a-percent from 2023 to 2024.
Russell County’s half-a-percent increase was also the lowest in the Lake Cumberland area.
Russell County wasn’t the only county to see an increase in unemployment. Each of Kentucky’s 120 counties saw an increase from 2023 to 2024.
