A child in neighboring Pulaski County was airlifted to a Lexington hospital following a house fire that occurred yesterday morning.
The Somerset Fire Department was called out at around 11 a.m. local time yesterday to a residence in the Ferguson community. When fire crews arrived on scene, they found a woman and a child standing on the roof of the home. Crews were able to get the woman and child down through a ladder rescue.
Fire crews were also able to rescue another child out of an upstairs bedroom. Officials say that child was airlifted to a Lexington hospital for treatment of injuries.
The fire was contained to one room of the house, and is believed to be caused by an electrical issue. Fire officials say multiple space heaters were in the home.
