A lawsuit has been filed against Russell County Jailer Bobby Dunbar and other jail employees regarding the neglect of an inmate earlier this year.
Dunbar is listed individually as a defendant, along with 5 unnamed defendants who are referred to as deputy jailers and medical professionals at the jail.
The lawsuit filed in Russell Circuit Court yesterday was filed by Jeremy Ping, the administrator of the estate of Sarah Beth Evans, who passed away earlier this year.
The lawsuit states Evans was admitted as an inmate at Russell County Detention Center on January 1 and throughout her incarceration, her health was deteriorating and declining.
The lawsuit alleges the unnamed defendants failed to render timely medical assistance to Evans while she was at the detention center. The lawsuit also alleges Dunbar failed to train and supervise those unnamed defendants to follow policies and procedures.
WJRS News would like to remind our listeners a lawsuit only presents one side of a legal case.
