Russell County unemployment up more than 1 percent

Russell County’s unemployment rate rose by more than one percent last month, according to data from the Kentucky Center for Statistics.

Russell County’s unemployment rate in the month of October came in at 6 percent, up from 4.8 percent in October 2023.

In the Lake Cumberland Area, McCreary County’s unemployment was 6.6 percent and Wayne County was 6.1 percent.

Clinton County’s unemployment rate matched Russell County at 6 percent.

Adair and Pulaski counties were slightly lower at 5.6 and 5.5 percent, respectively.

Casey County’s unemployment rate was 4.6 percent and Cumberland County was again amongst the lowest in the state at 3.5 percent.

118 of Kentucky’s 120 counties had increases in unemployment, including all the counties in the Lake Cumberland Area, with increases ranging from half-a-percent to 1.2 percent.
