KSP arrests person of interest in Wayne County homicide investigation

An arrest has been made in connection with a Wayne County homicide investigation.

On Friday’s local news, we reported Kentucky State Police opened a homicide investigation after a woman was found dead inside a burning home. That investigation resulted in the arrest of 43-year-old Joseph K. Fulton of Monticello Friday night, according to state police.

Fulton is charged with first-degree murder and arson in connection with the death of his mother, 64-year-old Mary J. Fulton.

Firefighters were called out early Friday morning at around 2:30 local time to a home on Old Mill Springs Road off Highway 90. When there, firefighters found a woman, later identified as Mary Fulton, dead inside the home.

Investigators soon learned Joseph Fulton lived at the home with her, and had allegedly made statements about shooting his mother and setting fire to the home.

Joseph Fulton was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
