Sheriff’s Office sees notable uptick in calls last month

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office saw a notable increase in calls for service last month.

Russell County Sheriff Derek Polston said the sheriff’s office responded to more than 400 calls for service during the month of October.

That’s an increase from the previous October when the sheriff’s office responded to 328 calls for service.

Last month, the sheriff’s office also made 27 arrests, responded to 12 domestic calls, initiated 35 traffic stops and worked 25 traffic accidents, although none of those were injury accidents.

The sheriff’s office also performed 20 welfare checks, responded to 13 suspicious person complaints, 6 animal complaints, and 15 alarm calls. They also served 96 court papers, performed 82 vehicle inspections, and issued 33 concealed carry permits.
