With all precincts reporting, unofficial results show that Metcalfe, Monroe and Taylor Counties have all voted to allow the sale of medical cannabis.
The question about the sale of medical cannabis was also on the ballot in the cities of Burkesville, Greensburg, and Monticello, passing in all three.
In total, more than 100 cities and counties had questions regarding allowing medical cannabis operations on the ballot. A look at results across the state show no cities or counties voted to bar medical cannabis operations. In the nearby areas where medical cannabis was on the ballot, it passed with notable support, ranging from 55 to 65 percent approval.
Kentucky Senate Bill 47, signed into law on March 31, 2023, legalizes medical cannabis in the commonwealth effective January 1, 2025. The Office of Medical Cannabis in the Cabinet for Health and Family Services is charged under KRS Chapter 218B with implementing and administering Kentucky’s Medical Cannabis Program.
