Unemployment figures rose in Russell County and across the Lake Cumberland area last month.
Unemployment rose 1.2 percent in Russell County last month, compared to September 2023. Unemployment in Russell County came in at 5.9 percent last month, which was middle-of-the-pack in the Lake Cumberland area.
McCreary County had the highest unemployment rate at 6.9 percent, followed by Clinton and Wayne counties each at 6.2 percent and Adair County at 6 percent.
Pulaski County was just slightly lower than Russell County at 5.7 percent and Casey County came in at 4.8 percent.
Cumberland County finished with the lowest rate in the state at 3.7 percent.
Overall, the Lake Cumberland area saw a one-percent increase in unemployment compared to the year prior.
