Several Russell County Athletics teams were in action last night.
The Lady Laker Volleyball team hosted Cumberland County last night, with freshman and JV teams picking up victories and varsity coming away with a 3-0 win over the Lady Panthers.
The Lady Laker Soccer team hosted Hart County, picking up a 5-1 victory. Adriana Thomas and Samantha Hernandez each scored a pair of goals, and Addison Coffey added another. Madison Weisbrodt added an assist, and Liz Evans had 9 saves.
The JV team won 2-1, with Jayde Lawless scoring both goals and Jasmine Bennett finishing with 7 saves.
The Laker Soccer team went on the road and picked up an 8-0 win over district rival Monroe County. Taven Foley led the Lakers with 3 goals, Xavi Medrano finished with 2, and Connor Davidson, Carlos Lopez, and Elijah Grayum each scored a goal. Will Pratt, Evan Hutchison, and Olvin Vasquez each had 2 assists.
The Lady Laker Middle School Basketball team went on the road to Metcalfe County. 6th grade won 26-20, 7th grade won 28-27 and 8th grade fell 39-23.
Looking at games tonight, the Laker Soccer team will host Allen County-Scottsville for Senior Night tonight. The game gets underway at 6 with senior recognition taking place at halftime.
The Lady Laker Soccer team will go on the road to Wayne County, with that matchup scheduled to start at 5 p.m. CT.
The middle school Lady Laker Basketball team will play host to Cumberland County, with games getting underway at 5 this evening. Tonight will also be 8th grade night for the Lady Lakers.
