The Laker Football team went on the road Friday night, picking up a close win at Lincoln County in a district matchup that came down to the final play.
The Lakers came out on top 32-30 in Friday night’s matchup with the Patriots, as Russell County’s Alex Norton came up with a big defensive stop on Lincoln County’s two-point conversion with no time remaining on the clock.
Russell County converted a 4th and 14 from the Lincoln 24-yard-line while tied at 24 with about a minute to go, as Owen Loy found Jordan Beck in the end zone to give the Lakers the lead and the eventual win.

Loy completed 10 of 16 passes for 203 yards and 4 touchdowns. Tanner Stringer led the team in rushing with 118 yards on the night. Beck ran for 74 yards on 8 carries and a touchdown.
Kinnett Wills caught 4 passes for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns, while coming up with an interception on defense. Stringer caught 3 passes for 50 yards and a touchdown.
Ryne Green led Russell County with 14 total tackles, and Jameson Webb finished with a pair of tackles for loss.
With the victory, Russell County improves to 3-2 with a 1-0 mark in district play.
The Lakers will be on the road again this Friday, traveling to East Jessamine.
