A Pulaski County man was arrested after he reportedly threatened firefighters and deputies who responded to a call of a fire at his house.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred late Thursday and resulted in the arrest of 47-year-old Brian Herrin of Burnside. Firefighters were dispatched to a fire off Highway 27 to a report of a residence on fire with a man inside the home. When they arrived, firefighters reported to dispatch that a man was threatening them with a knife.
When deputies arrived, the sheriff’s office said firefighters were still battling the fire but Herrin had barricaded himself inside the house. Herrin reportedly grabbed knives from the kitchen and swung them at the deputies, and reportedly threw several items, striking one deputy in the head.
Deputies eventually made their way into the building and tazed Herrin, and took him into custody. Three deputies were treated on scene for smoke inhalation and one firefighter was transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for smoke inhalation.
Herrin was taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, then to UK before being transported back to the Pulaski County Detention Center. He faces multiple charges, including wanton endangerment first degree, assault of a police officer, and resisting arrest.
