The Russell County Board of Education took a step toward prohibiting medical cannabis use within the schools at this week’s board meeting.
The district’s Director of Pupil Personnel, Cindy Damron, spoke to the board and said the recommendation to prohibit medical cannabis was backed by the district’s nurses, school resource officers, and student services department.
Superintendent Michael Ford told WJRS News he agreed with the recommendation to prohibit medical cannabis and explained his reasoning.
A second reading and vote will be held later this month at the board’s end-of-fiscal year meeting.
