The drowning death of a Pulaski County man last year has resulted in a lawsuit against Russell County and a county employee.
On May 26th of last year, Camron Powell was a passenger in a vehicle traveling on Clifty Creek Road, which is located just off highway 127, south of Jamestown, when the vehicle went into the waters of Lake Cumberland.
According to claims in the lawsuit which was recently filed in Russell Circuit Court, Powell’s death was caused by poor roadway design and lack of adequate warning and signage, which created a dangerous and hazardous condition in failing to warn a vehicle driver not familiar with the area that the roadway ended in Lake Cumberland. The lawsuit alleges there was no signs or warnings on Clifty Creek Road at the time of the accident.
The lawsuit also names county road employee Lewis Conner as a defendant, alleging that Conner was, at the time, the county road engineer or county road supervisor and, as such, had a duty for the maintenance and safety of county roads.
