With the Christmas holiday approaching, local gas prices are back on the rise.
Most gas stations in Russell County are selling at $2.89/gallon, as this week saw prices jump as much as 20 cents per gallon.
Prices are about the same as this time last year, with prices mostly falling in between $2.80 and $2.89 at this time last year.
According to AAA, gas prices are expected to fluctuate over the next week or two due to an increased demand during a heavy travel season along with elevated oil prices.
