A two vehicle accident with injuries occurred this morning on Highway 1058 near the old Union Chapel School just after 9:15 this morning.
According to the Russell County Sheriff’s Department, Joey Dykes, age 38, was traveling south on highway 1058 operating a 2000 Ford Pickup when he struck a tractor, being driven by 61-year-old Mickey Garner, former County-Judge Executive and current Magistrate. Garner was flown out via helicopter.
The accident is being investigated by Deputy Nathan Ginn, who was assisted at the scene by members of the South Russell Fire Department, and Russell County EMS.
