The Russell County Lady Laker Volleyball team fell short against Wayne County Tuesday night 2-1.
The Lady Lakers lost the first set 25-18, but bounced back to win the second set 25-18 before falling in the third set 25-15.
Senior Sophie Shearer led the way with four kills, followed by Rachel Webb with two kills and Briley Murray, Kenzie Kelsey, and Emery Kate Robertson with one each.
Lauren White led the team in assists with 3.
Webb also led the Lady Lakers with three service aces, followed by Lauren White with 2, Shearer with 1, and Olivia Pierce with 1.
The Lady Laker JV team lost to Wayne County 2-0 and the freshman team came away with a 2-1 victory.
The Lady Lakers are 1-1 on the season and will travel to Rockcastle County on Thursday.
