A Somerset man has been sentenced to thirty-two years in federal prison and still faces state charges, including a case in Russell County.
Pulaski County Sheriff Bobby Jones says Jesus Chavez, 33, was sentenced November 4th by U.S. District Judge Robert E. Wier after previously pleading guilty to two counts of production of child pornography.
The sentence follows a joint investigation by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI, with Detective Ryan Jones serving as the sheriff’s office’s lead investigator.
According to his plea agreement, Chavez used a hidden camera connected to his cellphone to record sexual abuse involving a minor during October and November of 2022.
Chavez also faces multiple state indictments involving charges of rape, sodomy, sexual exploitation of minors and human trafficking.
One of those cases is pending in Russell County, where his next court appearance is scheduled for next Tuesday, November 10th. He is also scheduled to appear in Pulaski Circuit Court on January 17th.
