The Russell County Sheriff’s Office remained busy throughout the month of June, according to Sheriff Derek Polston’s monthly report presented Monday morning to the Russell County Fiscal Court.
Sheriff Polston reported deputies responded to a total of 727 calls for service during the month. The department also made 70 arrests, conducted 162 traffic stops and investigated 25 traffic collisions.
In addition, deputies transported seven individuals for mental health treatment and served 134 court papers.
The Sheriff’s Office also completed 221 prisoner transports, logging just over 5,000 miles during those transports. Deputies inspected 176 vehicles and issued 24 concealed carry deadly weapons permits during the month.
In his report, Sheriff Polston also provided an update on the Sheriff’s Office financial operations. He told magistrates the office collected $13,541,933.28 during Fiscal Year 2025, adding that all required disbursements have been made and properly accounted for.
Sheriff Polston presented the statistics and financial report as part of his regular monthly update to the Fiscal Court, highlighting the wide range of law enforcement, public safety and administrative responsibilities handled by the Russell County Sheriff’s Office.
