Construction continues to move forward on the largest expansion and renovation project in the history of Russell County Hospital.
Hospital CEO Scott Thompson says work on the approximately $30 million project remains on schedule, with completion expected by the end of 2027. Thompson says while construction has required some adjustments to the hospital’s daily operations, patient care and services have continued without interruption.
Thompson says hospital staff have worked hard to ensure patients continue receiving the same high level of care throughout the construction process.
The Kentucky General Assembly has appropriated $10 million for the project through the Budget Reserve Trust Fund. The remaining approximately $20 million is being provided by Russell County Hospital through financing, reserves and other funding sources.
When complete, Thompson says the expansion will modernize the hospital and better position it to meet the healthcare needs of the community for years to come.
