Jamestown Mayor Regena Hinton received a special surprise during Saturday evening’s Lakefest celebration in downtown Jamestown.
City employees who have helped organize the annual event through the years had decided to declare Hinton a “Hometown Hero” in recognition of her years of dedicated service to the community.
Assistant City Clerk Debbie Perkins made the presentation on behalf of the city’s employees, thanking the mayor for her leadership and commitment to Jamestown.
Hinton has played a key role in countless community events and civic projects over the years, not only during her time on the Jamestown City Council and as mayor, but also while working in the local banking industry, where she was actively involved in supporting community organizations and events.
The recognition comes as Mayor Hinton prepares to conclude her public service. She is not seeking reelection this November and will leave office when her term expires on December 31.
Saturday‘s presentation was met with warm applause from the Lakefest crowd as community members joined city employees in recognizing Mayor Hinton’s lasting contributions to Jamestown.
