Work is continuing on the Russell County Hospital expansion project.
Hospital CEO Scott Thompson said the footers were recently poured, which opens the door for some more notable changes happening within the next several weeks.
Plans for the expansion include nearly doubling the size of the current facility. This includes a new emergency room, new equipment, a new registration space, more office space, and more parking, among many other improvements.
