Temporary Pipeline Approved for Liberty

Liberty’s emergency water situation continues, but help is on the way.

Mayor Dr. Sam Haddad told the Casey County News Tuesday afternoon that a temporary pipeline to pump water from the Green River to Lake Liberty will move forward after receiving approval from the Kentucky Division of Water. Work will begin once the city secures needed supplies, with plans for a permanent pipeline in the future.

Meanwhile, a local state of emergency remains in effect. Residents are ordered to avoid unnecessary water use, including outdoor watering, filling pools, washing vehicles, and pressure washing. Officials also urge shorter showers and only running full loads of laundry and dishes.

Violators face fines starting at 250 dollars, with repeated offenses risking water service disconnection.
