Russell County families are reminded that the Summer Meals To-Go program begins today.
Meal distribution will take place at Russell County High School, with families asked to enter through Erik Lane. Pickup hours are scheduled from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., or until all available meals have been distributed.
Each registered child between the ages of 1 and 18 will receive a week’s worth of meals, including seven breakfasts, seven lunches, and one gallon of milk.
School officials stress that meals will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. If supplies are exhausted before 12:30 p.m., distribution will end for the day and no additional meals will be available.
Participants must be registered and have a car tag to receive meals. However, officials note that registration and possession of a car tag do not guarantee meals, as quantities are limited.
Families are encouraged to arrive early to ensure availability. School officials say they look forward to serving local children throughout the summer meal program.
