Environment compliance officials are expected to soon be in Russell Springs performing work behind Jax’s convenience store and gas station.
Russell Springs Mayor Eddie Thomas said officials will be performing work in the area as protocol following the gas leak in the area about three years ago.
The work is being done at the direction of the EPA and the Kentucky Underground Storage Tank Branch. The work includes core drilling and placing test holes along the right-of-way of Carol Street and some other nearby areas.
