A flag raising ceremony was held at the H.M. Bottom Firehouse in Russell Springs yesterday morning.
A flag was raised on the newly-installed flagpole in a special ceremony with Russell Springs firefighters and the DAV Honor Guard.
Russell Springs Assistant Fire Chief Mark Barnett said being able to raise a flag at the fire station means a lot to the men and women that make up the Russell Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
Russell Springs Mayor Eddie Thomas said the flag raising is a reminder of the sacrifice of those who serve in the armed forces heading into Memorial Day weekend.
The new flag pole at the fire station stands between 40 and 45 feet tall.
