Somerset man arrested in sexual extortion case

A Somerset man was arrested this week as part of a sexual extortion investigation.

33-year-old Tyler Michael Thomas was arrested on Tuesday and charged with sexual extortion.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office said an investigation began after a woman reported to the sheriff’s office that someone was threatening to make negative statements about her to a third party if she did not send explicit photos of herself to them.

Detectives with the sheriff’s office were able to trace the account sending the messages back to Thomas and arrested him. Thomas was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.

Last year, the Kentucky legislature passed a law making sexual extortion a crime in Kentucky.
