A new civics club at Russell County High School will allow students the opportunity to learn more about local government.
Russell County Judge-Executive Randy Marcum said through a grant obtained by the county, students involved in the club will be able to work part-time at the courthouse where they’ll learn about the different roles and positions within county government.
Funding for the program comes via a grant from the Center for Rural Development.
Russell County educators Joy Shearer, Hannah England, Suzie Stephens, and Dennis Kiser are involved in mentoring students involved in the civics club.
