The Russell County Middle School 8th grade Laker Basketball team went 2-1 in state tournament competition over the weekend.
The Lakers started with a win over West Perry Friday night by a score of 65-27, led by 18 points each from Raylan McAninch and Colton Whitaker. Gavin Campbell added 13 and Riggs Richardson scored 10.
The Lakers fell to East Perry by a score of 55-32 on Saturday before bouncing back and defeating Herald Whitaker Middle School in Magoffin County by a score of 47-44. Colton Whitaker led Russell County with 17 points, while Riggs Richardson scored 11 and Raylan McAninch scored 10.
The tournament wraps up the middle school basketball season for the Lakers.
