Russell County split a doubleheader at Clinton County last night, with the girls picking up a victory and the boys falling in overtime.
The Lady Lakers defeated the Lady Bulldogs 56-44 in the first game.
Addy Abrell led Russell County with 16 points on the night, followed by Aniyah Coffey with 13 and McKenna Ccamaque and Carigann Carpenter with 9 points each. Carpenter finished the night with a team-high 11 rebounds as well.
In the nightcap, the Lakers trailed by seven points headed into the 4th quarter but came back to force overtime against the Bulldogs, but fell by a score of 70-63.
Maddox Shearer led Russell County with 21 points, followed by Dylan Stanelle with 14. Bryson Irvin finished with 9 points for the Lakers.
The Lakers and Lady Lakers will be in action again on Friday night, hosting Adair County in a doubleheader. Friday night will be senior night for the Lakers and Lady Lakers.
