Candidate filing deadline is tomorrow

Tomorrow is the candidate filing deadline for candidates seeking offices on the ballot in the upcoming May primary.

Candidates must have their paperwork turned into the County Clerk’s office no later than 4 p.m.

County Clerk Patti Glover is reminding potential candidates that this is a strict deadline and the office cannot accept candidate paperwork turned in any later than 4 p.m.

Races on the primary ballot will include races for sheriff, magistrate seats, constables, county clerk, and others.

So far, 35 candidates in Russell County have officially filed candidate paperwork to run for office this year, either in the primary or for non-partisan offices in the November general election.

The primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19.
