Traffic accident fatalities decrease slightly in Lake Cumberland

As 2025 comes to an end, the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety reports the Lake Cumberland area has experienced a slight decrease in the number of traffic fatalities compared to 2024.

In 2025, the office of highway safety reports 45 total traffic fatalities in the Lake Cumberland area. That’s compared to 47 in 2024 and 56 in 2023.

Broken down by county, the most fatalities were in Pulaski County with 13.

6 fatalities occurred in Clinton County.

4 fatalities occurred in Russell, Taylor, Green and McCreary counties. 3 fatalities were reported in Casey and Wayne counties, and 2 fatalities were reported in Adair and Cumberland counties.

According to the office, 8 fatalities in the district occurred in collisions where alcohol was involved.
