Russell County saw a notable decrease in unemployment in the month of September.
Russell County’s unemployment rate decreased from 4.8 percent in September 2024 to 4.1 percent in September 2025.
Russell County recorded the second-lowest unemployment rate in the 10-county Lake Cumberland region in September. Only Cumberland County, which was tied for the lowest rate in the state, was lower at 3.7 percent.
Adair County’s unemployment rate was 4.7 percent, Pulaski was 5 percent, and Casey County was 5.3 percent.
Clinton County’s unemployment rate was 5.7 percent and Wayne County recorded the highest rate in the area at 6.2 percent.
The release of unemployment data was delayed due to the government shutdown earlier this year.
