Russell County Hospital has reached a significant milestone in the pilot Food is Medicine program.

The hospital this week has begun providing what are called medically-tailored meals. This initiative provides fresh proteins and vegetables for selected patients based on that patient’s medical needs.

Russell County Hospital CEO Scott Thompson gave WJRS News more details.

The Food is Medicine program is in partnership with the Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner’s Office.
